The ideal candidate will be based in MCJ’s Gulfport office, where the Housing Law Campaign main office is primarily based; however, we will also consider candidates who can work from our Jackson or Indianola offices. The Staff Attorney will perform various duties in support of the Director of Housing Law (HLCD) and the Housing Law Campaign.

The Mississippi Center for Justice (“MCJ”) offers opportunities for current 3L law students or recent graduates interested in working with us to develop fellowship applications such as those offered by Skadden, Equal Justice Works, New Voices, and other law school-based fellowship opportunities. MCJ is especially interested in developing projects having to do with community economic development and/or housing on the Gulf Coast; consumer protection, public benefits, and health issues in Jackson; and/or educational advocacy anywhere. MCJ has offices in Jackson, Gulfport, and Indianola, where we work on racial and economic justice in the areas of economic justice, healthcare, housing, heir’s property, education, and public benefits. We invite you to intern in person with our Advocacy Campaigns (Economic Justice, Heirs’ Property, Health Justice, Impact Litigation, Housing Law, and Education Equity) for the summer. Please note the Housing Law Campaign is based on the Mississippi Coast. While summer internships are usually reserved for law students, we invite motivated undergraduate students to apply as well. While internships are unpaid, interns are welcome to identify private funding for their time. To express your interest, email a resume and cover letter, that also includes if there are any specific Campaigns you are interested in, to Attorney Stacey Moore Buchanan, MCJ Director of Operations and General Counsel at internships@mscenterforjustice.org and include in the subject line of the email: “College/Law Student Interested in (Season) Internship.”
