Everyone deserves a safe, stable, and affordable place to call home. We work to make that vision a reality by focusing on three critical areas: fair housing, housing stability, and affordable housing.
In Mississippi, too many families live under the constant threat of eviction, discrimination, or housing that is unsafe or unaffordable. We know that housing is more than a roof over one’s head – it is the foundation for health, education, economic security, and community well-being. Without stable housing, children struggle in school, families face barriers to employment, and entire communities remain locked out of opportunity.
We defend tenants facing eviction, providing direct legal representation to help families remain in their homes and avoid the devastating consequences of displacement. We also work upstream, educating communities about their rights under fair housing and landlord-tenant laws to prevent injustices before they occur. Through our fair housing presentations and advocacy, we challenge discriminatory practices that have long limited where people of color and low-income families can live.
But our work does not stop at protecting families from losing their homes. We also partner with local nonprofits and community developers to expand access to affordable housing across Mississippi. We believe that safe, dignified, and affordable housing should not be a privilege, but a right.
Our work is rooted in the belief that housing justice is racial and economic justice. Every day, we stand alongside communities to challenge discriminatory systems, prevent homelessness, and build pathways to stronger, healthier, and more equitable neighborhoods for all Mississippians.
