Storyteller Spotlight MS – Southerners For Medicaid Expansion
The Mississippi Health Advocacy Program and Mississippi Center for Justice have joined a coalition of eight southern states that have not expanded Medicaid to demand health care coverage for the millions of southerners who live without health insurance.
The newly formed Southerners for Medicaid Expansion Coalition is galvanizing advocates in Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas, North Carolina, and South Carolina to show the nation that we can unite to fight the legacy of slavery, economic oppression, and racist political ideology to ensure that people have access to affordable healthcare in the midst of the worst pandemic in modern history.
As a part of the campaign, Southerners for Medicaid Expansion will highlight a storyteller from each state weekly. Mississippi will be featured on August 27 at 11 a.m. CST.
