State Sen. Sollie B. Norwood is sponsoring a healthcare Town Hall meeting for residents of his senate District 28 on September 19th, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Metro Event Center of the Metrocenter Mall.

Healthcare professionals and providers from Jackson Hinds Comprehensive Health Center, state Department of Health, Department of Mental Health, Division of Medicaid, and Community Health Center will be available to discuss the level of services they provide to the community and to explain how residents can better access healthcare services.

Representatives from the Mississippi Center for Justice will be available to answer technical questions on accessing services as well as discussing in tandem with service organizations on how to obtain health benefits.

“What we want to do is provide as much information as we can,” said District 28 Senator Sollie B. Norwood, who arranged the gathering. “There are many services that our residents can access if they know about them and there are some that could actually preserve their good health by giving them access to preventive medicines now before a health crisis occurs.”

The Metro Event Room is located on the eastern side of Metrocenter Mall, facing Highway 80, near the entrance beside the former Ruby Tuesday restaurant.

Citizens, churches, neighborhood associations and community organizations are asked to attend the meeting and learn who the healthcare providers are in our community and how you can get onboard to a healthier life. Call Norwood at (601) 359-3221 for details.
