REILLY MORSE: Let the public see PEER’s report on port

Sun HeraldCommunity and business leaders should join Rep. Sonya Williams-Barnes’ call to demand that the PEER Committee release its report on the State Port at Gulfport as written when it meets next week.

Do not be seduced by a slick and very expensive public relations report and lobbying effort paid for by more disaster funds.

Bottling up a watchdog report while publicly lashing out at it lets the governor and officials at the port have it both ways — they get to criticize a report that nobody can read, and its authors can’t defend.

Fairness requires that the report be released as written, so that everyone can draw their own conclusions without the filter of the Mississippi Development Authority, the port or their multimillion-dollar public relations apparatus.
