Celebrate “Champions of Justice” with the Mississippi Center for Justice
Highlighting MCJ’s 20-Year Stand for Justice and Equality in Mississippi
[Jackson, MS] – The Mississippi Center for Justice (MCJ) will host “Champions of Justice” on Thursday, October 26, at 6:00 p.m. at The Westin Jackson.
“Champions of Justice ” is MCJ’s signature annual awards and fundraising reception. This year, we will celebrate MCJ’s 20-year mission of advancing racial, economic, and social justice. The event will feature keynote speaker and recipient of the 2023 Fannie Lou Hamer Award, Dr. Jeanine Abrams McLean, President of Fair Count, with a virtual introduction by voting rights activist and nonprofit leader Stacey Abrams. The event will also honor the visionary founders of the Mississippi Center for Justice with the 2023 Champion of Justice Award and recognize MCJ’s founding donors with the 2023 Pathfinder Award.
“Twenty years ago, a few committed people took a stand against grave economic, social, and racial inequities and created the Mississippi Center for Justice. Today, we are proud to continue the fight for justice,” said Vangela M. Wade, president and CEO of MCJ. “Change doesn’t just happen. It requires immense dedication, passion, and resources. We are thankful to our supporters for providing us with the tools to advance our mission. We’ve done a lot already, but we’re hoping to do so much more.”
