JACKSON, Miss. — The Mississippi Center for Justice is taking its Consumer Protection mission to the next level by joining with Northpark Mall in presenting Making Cents, a financial literacy event, on June 21, 2014.

The event will educate consumers about credit, financial independence, savings and scams. Organizations and agencies will be on hand to help consumers understand credit, fair credit products, fraud and scam prevention, high cost credit and living on a budget.

Pahaedra Robinson, Consumer Protection Director for the Mississippi Center for Justice, said the event is a great chance for people to learn more about financial independence.

“We see Making Cents as a way to take our consumer protection message out to a wide audience and to give people practical tools to promote financial self confidence,” Robinson said. “There will be information available to help people no matter where they are in their financial journey. We are really looking forward to this.”

Making Cents will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Center Court in Northpark Mall in Ridgeland. Door prizes will be given to participants. Participating organizations will get booths and can give brief presentations on a relevant topic of their choice. The event is expected to reach a minimum of 500 people.
