Mississippi Center for Justice Receives Grant from W.K. Kellogg Foundation to Advance Racial and Economic Justice in Mississippi
Jackson, MS – Mississippi Center for Justice received a 3-year, $1.3 million grant to continue its mission to strengthen social, racial, and economic justice in Mississippi by dismantling the systems that strip opportunity away from lower-income Mississippians and by developing strategies that combat discrimination and poverty.
The grant provides operational support for MCJ’s work to advance justice in Mississippi through its dedicated legal and advocacy campaigns centered around healthcare, fair housing, consumer protection, education, immigration, disaster recovery, and impact litigation.
“This generous grant by the Kellogg Foundation will provide MCJ with the support we need to fulfill our promise to the people of Mississippi,” says MCJ President and CEO Vangela M. Wade. “The importance of partnerships with mission-driven institutions like the Kellogg Foundation cannot be overstated. WKKF stands shoulder-to-shoulder with MCJ throughout our ongoing fight against the systems responsible for economic and racial injustice in Mississippi.”
The W.K. Kellogg Foundation is a core supporter of Mississippi Center for Justice’s unique role as both boots-on-the-ground advocates who assist struggling Mississippians every day, and creative policy specialists who use litigation to shape systemic changes to Mississippi law. This grant helps Mississippians by providing access to healthcare, preventing evictions, stopping consumer fraud, opening fair lines of credit, halting deportations, and fighting unjust laws and policies.
