15 Dec MCJ Needs Pro Bono Attorneys to Assist DACA Applicants

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced on Monday (12/7) that it will reopen DACA to first-time applicants. This announcement comes more than five months after the Supreme Court ruled that DACA was not properly ended by the Trump administration, yet the Department refused to move.

We are working to place first-time applicants with attorneys in the next weeks and we’d love your support. If you are interested, please complete this Google Form to provide us with your availability.

The work should total fewer than five hours and consist mostly of communication with your client(s), requesting/receiving/sorting evidentiary documents, and completing the application packet. This is an overview of applying for DACA as an initial applicant and I recommend you review it to familiarize yourself with the requirements and process. The work is remote—due to both COVID and the geographically wide network of attorney volunteers—and United We Dream published an excellent resource on completing DACA applications in the current time.
