Mississippi has a higher uninsured rate than the national average, with 11% of residents lacking health insurance. At the same time, our state has some of the highest rates of hypertension, diabetes, obesity, asthma, and HIV/AIDS in the country. These chronic illnesses take an even higher toll on Mississippi’s communities of color, deepening existing racial and economic health disparities.

The Affordable Care Act offers an unprecedented opportunity for nearly all Mississippians, including children, to access affordable, quality care. Increased access to healthcare supports healthier outcomes for individuals and builds stronger, more resilient communities across the state.

We work to remove barriers to healthcare by informing the public and policymakers about its importance and benefits. We also offer resources to help individuals understand their healthcare options and how to enroll in available programs. By advocating for policies that expand access, educating communities about their rights and options, and working with partners across the state, we aim to create a Mississippi where everyone has the opportunity to achieve health and wellness.
