Mississippi has the highest concentration of payday lenders in the nation, and most are concentrated in low-income areas or in communities of color. While payday lenders may offer quick and small dollar loans, their high interest rates can trap people in debt. Our goal is to educate the community on how to make informed financial decisions that will lead to financial stability.
We offer financial literacy classes in conjunction with financial institutions across the state. Topics can include credit building, investing, home buyer education, and budgeting.
Our New Roots Credit Partnership offers financial solutions and alternatives to Mississippians who have been shut out of the economic mainstream for generations. Through this program, we bring together employers, community leaders, and financial institutions to help individuals get banked, create a financial plan, build a relationship with a banker, and find financial freedom.
