Rooted in Mississippi’s unparalleled history of courage, resilience, and social change, the Social Justice Empowerment Experience is a call to action anchored in three powerful events. From Jackson to the Mississippi Delta, participants will engage in meaningful conversations, connect with movement leaders, and explore the stories, places, and people that continue to shape the fight for racial and economic justice.

The Experience begins with the Champions of Justice Dinner at The Westin Jackson on Thursday, October 29, at 6:00 p.m. This year’s signature event celebrates generations of advocacy, honoring leaders whose work spans decades while recognizing emerging voices who are carrying the movement forward. Their stories remind us that progress is never guaranteed and that every generation must be willing to TAKE A STAND.

The journey continues with the Justice Brunch at the Mississippi Museum of Art on Friday, October 30, at 10:00 a.m. The brunch will feature a timely panel discussion exploring voting rights in Mississippi, followed by interactive table discussions on the systemic issues at the heart of MCJ’s work and how they intersect with voting rights, civic engagement, and community empowerment.

The culminating experience is The Great Mississippi Road Trip, taking place October 30 through November 1. Beginning at the Medgar and Myrlie Evers National Monument in Jackson and traveling through the Mississippi Delta, this immersive journey connects the history of the Civil Rights Movement with today’s most pressing social justice challenges. Along the way, participants will experience the people, culture, and stories that continue to inspire movements for change across Mississippi and beyond.

Together, these experiences create opportunities for connection, reflection, and action. They honor those who fought to expand freedom and opportunity while challenging us to consider our role in advancing that work today.
